Earn glory in the life that lasts forever

Welcome to my blog. Peace be with you.

If we have had the good fortune to come to know Jesus, then let us make our friendship with him the greatest thing in our life. let us be faithful to him in the face of an unbelieving and uncomprehending world. He will be faithful to us in the life that lasts forever.

Earn glory in the life that lasts forever

Gospel

Luke 12:8-12

If you declare yourselves for me, I will declare myself for you

Jesus said to his disciples:

‘I tell you, if anyone openly declares himself for me in the presence of men, the Son of Man will declare himself for him in the presence of the angels. But the man who disowns me in the presence of men will be disowned in the presence of God’s angels.

‘Everyone who says a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

‘When they take you before synagogues and magistrates and authorities, do not worry about how to defend yourselves or what to say, because when the time comes, the Holy Spirit will teach you what you must say.’

Prayerful reflection

There are no limits to the mercy of God. He will forgive everyone who repents. There are no limits either to the ‘reward’ he gives to those who love him and have been faithful to his Son Jesus in their life here. Those who have witnessed to Jesus as Son of God in an unbelieving age will be ‘rewarded’ for this and the ‘reward’ will be beyond anything we can dream of or imagine.

If we have disowned Jesus in our life here, then the Father in truth and justice acknowledges this. It will be a moment for profound regret and remorse. ‘I was such a fool.’ The Father is happy to forgive this sin too, if we repent.

But if a man lives in hardness of heart, committed to living as he likes without regard for the demands of God the Creator, if he makes himself a god for himself, then he joins Satan. Satan tries to put himself in the place of God. In his insolence and pride, he thinks he can be equal with God in every respect.  His pride prevents him from falling at the feet of God and begging forgiveness. So too the man who has put himself in the place of God. His sin is eternal, because his pride refuses to have him ask for forgiveness. There can be no forgiveness without repentance. Now is the time to repent. Later our decision becomes an eternal one.
